Louisiana is known for its hot and humid conditions. The one thing most people from the Bayou state try to avoid is getting bit by Mosquitoes. Those bloodthirsty predators are always around whether you are on the water fishing, in the woods hunting, or just sitting on your back porch in the evenings cooking.

They are just lurking in the dark, just waiting for you to sit in a chair or stop for a moment so that they can jump all over you and bite you. Some that land on you are on longer than you think and when you go to slap and kill them, it looks like you are going to need a blood transfusion after all the blood they sucked out of you.

#1 -- Bananas  The study found people were more likely to get bit after eating a banana.

#2 -- Floral-scented foods and desserts.  They're attracted to the smell of nectar-producing plants, so anything floral could have them heading your way.

#3 -- Smelly cheese.  They might be attracted to a compound produced by bacteria on our skin called carboxylic acid.

#4 -- Beer. At least two studies have found you're more likely to get bit after drinking beer due to some chemical being released in your breath or by your skin.

Oh I know, my Louisiana folks almost passed out when they saw #4. I guess we will just keep getting bit in Louisiana because I don't see many people putting down a can of beer just to avoid Mosquitoes,
