I-10 Bridge Could Be Closer To Being Replaced In Lake Charles

When I first moved to Lake Charles, my wife and I came through at night and at the time Harrah's Casino was here and all we saw were bright lights. Ironically, we were passing what is now the home to our studios. Within a few minutes we came across this humongous bridge that we were almost afraid to go over, but we had to.

That bridge has been between Louisiana and Texas for decades and while it is not in the best shape, for many that is the only immediate recourse many had to travel. There have been many talks and meetings about rebuilding the bridge and getting it to where it's reliable and safe. It seems like those days are close than we think.

According to The Advocate, there are even more discussions of the bridge being rebuilt and replaced. President Joe Biden is aware and many local politicians and residents have spoken up on how important it is for the bridge to be redone. It is consistently traveled on daily with thousands of cars of workers going to the plants and residents of Lake Charles, Sulphur, and Westlake traveling back and forth as well.

I am a witness that this bridge will completely shut down if there is an accident on the bridge with only one lane drivable and cars being stockpiled back to back for hours. I have been here for over twenty years and have heard the rumblings of the new bridge, yet I have not seen it yet. Will the bridge finally be worked on and completed within my lifetime, or maybe my sons? Only time will tell what or when things will finally turn around.
