After last night's accident on the I-10 east lanes of the bridge, the DOTD has been working to inspect the bridge to ensure that it is still safe to travel one. Traffic since last night has been backed up for miles and was made worse this morning with travelers having to use 210 to travel. Currently, traffic is backed up from both splits along 210 westbound, but that should change soon.

The DOTD announced shortly ago that indeed they have opened the North Lakeshore Drive West Bound on-ramp at this time. There is still no information, nor update, as to when the Eastbound side of the bridge will be open. Things will also be getting a bit worse for Moss Bluff goers, Sam Houston Jones Parkway will be closing beginning at 1:45pm for the Sam Houston High Homecoming parade! It will reopen after 3:00pm

LOOK: Here are the best lake towns to live in

Many of the included towns jump out at the casual observer as popular summer-rental spots--the Ozarks' Branson, Missouri, or Arizona's Lake Havasu--it might surprise you to dive deeper into some quality-of-life offerings beyond the beach and vacation homes. You'll likely pick up some knowledge from a wide range of Americana: one of the last remaining 1950s-style drive-ins in the Midwest; a Florida town that started as a Civil War veteran retirement area; an island boasting some of the country's top public schools and wealth-earners right in the middle of a lake between Seattle and Bellevue; and even a California town containing much more than Johnny Cash's prison blues.
