COVID-19 and recent road construction might have played a part in shutting down this longtime staple of Louisiana cuisine. KATC is reporting Landry's Seafood House in Henderson, Louisiana is closing its doors permanently.

If there is a glimmer of hope in this situation, Henderson Mayor Mayor Sherbin Collette told KATC:

The owners hope to sell the popular seafood restaurant to another Cajun.

Landry's was a favorite stopping point for my mom and dad when I was young and we were traveling to or from Baton Rouge and New Orleans. I carried on that tradition a few times with my family, as well.

It was one of those restaurants where you couldn't go wrong with anything on the menu. Their food was bursting with flavor from gumbo, crawfish etouffee, fried catfish and shrimp, to the seafood platter. It was all to die for.

Landry's will be missed by locals and tourists alike.
