Louisiana is known as Sportsman's Paradise and the amount of wildlife we have in the state. People not from Louisiana always stereotype us for having pet alligators or raccoons. That is just Hollywood fiction.

No, we don't get to work by paddling or driving a boat, we own vehicles. Now some people use boats for work like hunting, fishing, and shrimping though. Most residents in Louisiana are just like anyone else in the country with pets like cats and dogs, while also having cows, chickens, and horses.

So when we talk about animals that are illegal to own in Louisiana we are talking about exotic or wild animals. As we were saying above, we don't have a skunk, raccoon, alligator, or squirrel as pets. Those are wild animals that you would never want as a pet.

We found a list of wild or exotic animals that are illegal to own in the state of Louisiana and the list may raise your eyebrows like it did ours because when we read this list, we asked ourselves, why in the heck would you want to own one of these animals anyway?

They seem like they would be dangerous to own and after you see this list, you probably will be thinking the same thing. We found a list here on the government page of Baton Rouge of the animals you absolutely can't own in the state of Louisiana.
