Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - We know it's early in the week, but it's never too soon to start planning on what you are going to do this weekend. If you love Cajun food and real, traditional Cajun music, you'll want to go to this great event this Saturday in Lake Charles.

Jellystone RV Park and Resort has announced the return of its popular annual jambalaya cookoff, and it’s shaping up to be a full day of flavor, fun, and friendly competition. Cooks from across the region are invited to bring their best recipes and compete for bragging rights, and of course, the top prize.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro with a secret family recipe or just confident your jambalaya stands above the rest, this is your chance to prove it and win the top prize. Even if you’re not competing, it’s a great opportunity to walk around, take in the aromas, and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

Throughout the day, the park will come alive with activity as teams set up camp, fire up their pots, and stir up their best batches. Expect to see RVs and plenty of cast-iron cookware as participants put their own spin on the classic Louisiana dish.

As the sun goes down, the celebration shifts into high gear with live music from Grammy-winning artist Steve Riley and The Mamou Playboys. Steve and the boys will take the stage at 7:00 pm that night.

Known for their high-energy Cajun sound, they’ll take the stage under the pavilion and keep the crowd moving. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself two-stepping or waltzing along before the night is over.

To enter the cookoff, you can head over to the Jellystone website here for all the info.
