Ladies’ Self-Defense Classes Happening Saturday in Lake Charles
Learning self-defense is a powerful way to increase personal safety and awareness. These classes aim to help women feel more secure in everyday situations and provide tools to handle threats if they arise.
This Saturday, women in Calcasieu Parish have the chance to participate in a free self-defense workshop, designed to teach crucial skills and build confidence. Hosted by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO), the workshop will take place at the CPSO Training Academy, located at 3958 Mallard Cove Drive in Lake Charles. Women ages 18 and up are welcome to attend.
Led by certified deputies from the CPSO, the workshop offers hands-on training in self-defense techniques. Women will also receive instruction in safe firearm handling and shooting skills. After classroom discussions, participants will head to the shooting range for live practice with their firearms.
The first session is on Saturday, October 19, and the second session will be held on November 2. Both workshops run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., allowing participants plenty of time to learn and practice new skills in a safe and supportive setting.
Attendees are asked to bring their own handgun in a carrying case or holster, along with 50 rounds of ammunition. For safety on the range, participants should also bring ear and eye protection.
