Lake Charles, La [KNGT-FM] -Veterans Day, a federal holiday, is this Tuesday is a time for all of us to pause and honor the men and women who have served in our nation’s armed forces. It’s a day to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and pride of those who’ve defended our country, no matter the cost.

It is a federal holiday, which means all the banks, federal, state, and local offices will be closed that day to observe Veterans Day. For residents in Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana, please plan accordingly if you need any of these facilities on Tuesday.

Additionally, if you reside in Lake Charles, your trash pickup days and times have been adjusted due to the holiday. Katie Harrington with the city of Lake Charles released the new trash pickup schedule for the holiday. She says,

Trash and garbage normally picked up on Tuesday will be rescheduled for pickup on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025.
Thursday and Friday routes will remain on their regular schedule.

All other City of Lake Charles services, including the Department of Public Works, City Hall, and other city departments, will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, in observance of Veterans Day, and will reopen on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025.

Laura Heller with the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury shared an update for Waste Management customers regarding trash pickup on Veterans Day. She said,

All Calcasieu Parish Police Jury departments will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, to observe the Veterans Day holiday.

Garbage and trash pickup will run on its regular schedule for Waste Management customers.

So plan accordingly for your trash pickup this week for the holiday.
