Lake Charles Residents Would Like This Built In Place Of The Tower
You all know by now that the Capital One Tower will be imploded on Saturday at 8:00 am here in Lake Charles. The tower is the staple of downtown Lake Charles and leads the skyline of the city. Tomorrow downtown Lake Charles is going to look a lot different.
Residents from not just Lake Charles but all over Southwest Louisiana will be trying to get a spot to see the tower come down. While there are plenty of places for you to post up and watch the tower come down, there are places in downtown Lake Charles where you will NOT be able to enter due to safety.
The city of Lake Charles put out a map of the area downtown that is off-limits to the public while the tower is imploded. Here is the map.
We asked residents on Facebook what they thought should go in the place of the tower and the land it once stood on. Some of the answers were comical while some were great with suggestions that would revive the downtown area of the city.
Here is what residents said they would like to see built on the land where the Capital One Tower once stood.
Bass Pro Shop
A Zoo
An Aquarium
Buc-ees
Dave and Busters
A place like the Kemah boardwalk in Kemah, Texas
Another casino
Food Truck park
Ground-level Multi-cultural food, arts, and heritage garden pavilion with office spaces above.
Huge go-cart track
High-rise convention hotel since the Lakefront is expanding & the Lake Charles Event Center is being revitalized
A Top Golf Complex
A big nice convention hotel that can have a walk bridge to the Event Center
That is just some of the answers we received. We are so sad to see the tower go. We hope something nice will take its place. Stay tuned.
