Lake Charles Throwback: The Songs That Ruled Ryan Street in the 80s
Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - If you are from Lake Charles or Southwest Louisiana, hold on to your Girbaud Jeans, your swatch watches, Coca Cola shirts, and Penny Loafers because you are going to love this story. If you grew up in the Lake Area, then you already know what Friday nights in the area were all about.
It was when you piled up all your friends into a car or truck of that one friend who actually had a ride, and you would go cruising up and down Ryan Street in Lake Charles. It was a night where you could go hang out with all your friends and also feel like the coolest teenager on the planet.

Back in the late 80s and early 90s, car and truck jam systems were a big thing. If you were going to cruise down Ryan, you wanted to make sure you were in that car or truck that had the loudest sound system to rock out and get people's attention when you passed by them.

You know the systems we are talking about. Everyone had the Punch, Kicker, and M&M speakers with the Alpine or Pioneer decks, complete with either a cassette player or, if you had a CD player in your ride, you were the "Rich Kid" in the group.
I went on social media the other day asking the question,
If you were a teenager in the mid to late 80s, what was that one song you used to JAM to that would rattle your Kicker speakers riding up and down Ryan Street?
You flooded me with answers, and I have narrowed it down to the top five songs you said were the must-have jams when riding up and down Ryan Street in the 80s and 90s.
