Lake Charles to Host Annual Light Up the Lake Christmas Celebration
The holiday season is shining bright in Lake Charles with the return of the annual Light Up the Lake Christmas Celebration on Saturday, November 30. This year’s family-friendly event is packed with fun, including the Holiday Art Walk, Santa’s Workshop, live music, the popular lighted boat parade, and a grand fireworks show over the lake.
The celebration, held at the Arcade Amphitheater (1111 Bord du Lac Drive), runs from 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mayor Nic Hunter is thrilled about the festivities, saying, “This is a chance for our community to come together, celebrate the season, and create unforgettable memories.”
One of the highlights is the Holiday Art Walk, presented by the Arts & Humanities Council of SWLA. This market will feature homemade arts, crafts, and unique gifts from local artists. Food trucks and festive drinks will also be available, along with live entertainment throughout the day.
The fun kicks off at 1:30 p.m. with holiday carols by the Girl Scouts of the Louisiana Pines to the Gulf. Next, Josh Taylor will take the stage, followed by the St. Louis Show Choir. Wrapping up the music lineup is the Last Minute Big Band, a 20-piece group guaranteed to keep spirits high.
At sunset, Mayor Hunter will light up the Lake Charles Event Center and Millennium Park, officially starting the evening’s events. Then, boats decorated in holiday lights will cruise along the Lakefront Promenade for the Lighted Boat Parade. The night ends with a stunning fireworks show at 7:30 p.m., synchronized with music on KBYS 88.3 FM.
Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the show. Please note that ice chests and pets are not allowed.
