Lake Charles Featured on NBC's Today Show As Top "Out of Box Summer Spots"

If you happened to be watching NBC’s TODAY Show Monday morning, you may have heard a familiar name mentioned... Our very own, Lake Charles, Louisiana. That’s right, our own backyard was featured during a segment highlighting some of the best “out of the box” summer vacation destinations.

Mark Ellwood was featured on CNBC’s Filthy Rich Guide as an on-air expert. He has reported from places like London and Sydney for ABC News and has appeared on shows including Good Morning America, 20/20, World News, CBS This Morning, CBS Sunday Morning, CNN, HLN, Rachael Ray, Access Hollywood, and Extra.

Well, during Mark's segment, he mentioned Lake Charles as one of his favorite "Out of the Box Summer Vacation" spots. Here's what he had to say...

"Alright, next to a little more affordable Las Vegas experience. What you got?

So Vegas is one of my favorite places in the world. You will cut me in half, and you'll see Vegas written through me, but I'm going to send you to Lake Charles, Louisiana, which has that same format.

We’re saying resorts, pools, tall towers, entertainment, Reba, Babyface, name-brand restaurants like Gordon Ramsay Steak. You've got everything you get in Vegas, plus this sort of Cajun, Bayou, Creole overlay, which to me is a little extra je ne sais quoi."
