Lake Charles Trash Schedule Changes for Labor Day 2026
Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - Labor Day weekend is almost here, and as residents make plans for cookouts, travel, and time with family, it's also important to remember that the holiday will bring changes to some local services.
Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7, 2026. Government offices and banks will be closed in observance of the holiday, and some local services will operate on modified schedules.
In Lake Charles, city offices and several services will be closed on Monday. There will be no residential garbage collection on Monday, Sept. 7. The City of Lake Charles has adjusted its collection schedule for the holiday week.
Lake Charles Trash Pickup Schedule For Labor Day 2026
- Monday, Sept. 7: No collection. Monday’s route will be collected Tuesday, Sept. 8.
- Tuesday, Sept. 8: Tuesday’s route will be collected Wednesday, Sept. 9.
- Thursday, Sept. 10: Regular schedule.
- Friday, Sept. 11: Regular schedule.
Make sure to make a note of this so that you know your new collection day to avoid missing your trash pickup. With a busy holiday weekend ahead, taking a few minutes now to plan for the schedule changes can help prevent an unwanted surprise when it's time to put the garbage out.

Also remember that trash and garbage containers and other items for collection should be placed out by your curb before 7:00 am on your collection day or after 7 p.m. the evening before collection day. Then make a conscious effort to retrieve your containers no later than 7 p.m. on the day of collection.
