(KNGT-FM) - Gas prices are continuing to rise here in Louisiana, but Americans across the country are feeling the pain of higher gas prices.

Higher gas prices don’t just affect drivers. They can also lead to higher prices in stores. It costs more to move food and products when fuel prices go up, and those costs are often passed on to customers.

Why Are Gas Prices Continuing To Rise?

Experts say the increase is tied to the war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Since the conflict began, the price of crude oil has jumped. Crude oil is the main ingredient used to make gasoline.

Before the war, oil was around $70 per barrel. Now, it is over $100 per barrel. When oil prices rise, gas prices usually go up soon after.
