If you're a candy fan in Louisiana, it looks like we're getting a bit of a sour shake-up on the candy scene...

Sour Patch Kids have long been the reigning champions of sour candy, delivering that perfect one-two punch of tangy and sweet that keeps fans coming back for more. From the first lip-puckering bite to the smooth, fruity finish, they strike the ultimate balance between bold flavor and chewy goodness.

Whether you love the classic mix of lemon, lime, orange, raspberry, and blue raspberry or go for the extreme sour versions, there’s no denying their iconic status in the candy world. Unlike other sour candies that are either too mild or unbearably tart, Sour Patch Kids hit just the right level of sourness before melting into a satisfying sweetness.

Before you go into a sugar-induced panic, it’s worth noting that April Fools’ Day is right around the corner. Could this be just a prank? Are we being played by a bag of chewy, sugar-coated troublemakers? That would be a bit mean...

The beloved candy brand declared that it will now be known as "JUST Patch Kids." Why the sudden change? Apparently, they’re fed up with people claiming they’re “not sour enough.”

"Our decision is final," the company wrote in a post. "We cannot stand by and be called ‘not sour’ in our comments. You don’t appreciate our sour, so we’re taking it back."

Ouch. Talk about a sour breakup.

The post continued, doubling down on the shift: "We’re not sour AT ALL anymore."

And to really drive the point home, they ended with, "You never realize what you have until it's sour, then sweet, then gone. Hope it was worth it."

For now, we’ll have to wait and see if the change is real or just a cleverly timed joke. Either way, Louisiana candy lovers might want to grab a bag of Sour Patch Kids—er, Patch Kids—just in case. After all, you never know when your favorite snack might pull a disappearing act!
