LSU Ranks Inside Top 10 In Coaches Preseason Football Poll

[KNGT-FM] - College football is almost here. The season kicks off on Saturday, August 23, 2025, with five games scheduled in what is known as Week Zero. Some of the teams in action that Saturday include Hawaii, Iowa State, Kansas State, UNLV, Kansas, and Sam Houston, to name a few.

The actual start of the college football season will be on Thursday, August 28, 2025, with 17 games scheduled just for that night. The start of the season will continue on Friday night, August 29, with 11 more games on the schedule.

Then, on Saturday, there will be games from 11:00 am and run all day into the night, with the last games slated to kick off on the West Coast at 10:00 pm Central time. The game most folks in Louisiana will be anxiously waiting for will be the first game of the year for the LSU Tigers football team.

The first game of the year for the purple and gold will be a doozie as they are scheduled to play the Clemson Tigers in Clemson, South Carolina. That game will be televised to a national audience on Saturday night, August 30, 2025, at 6:30 pm Central. The game will be on ABC.

The team has been practicing and getting ready for the upcoming season. LSU will be looking to win its first game of the year to get its season off to a great start.

Why is this game going to be a big one for LSU? Well, the preseason polls are rolling out, and yesterday, the preseason Coaches' poll was released. LSU came in ranked #9 in the coaches poll while their opponents, the Clemson Tigers, were preseason ranked #6. So that means when both Tiger teams take the field that Saturday night, it will be a huge matchup between two top 10-ranked teams, the #6 and #9th-ranked Tigers of Clemson and LSU.

Now, the AP preseason poll has not been released yet, but it is slated to come out on August 11, 2025, so we will need to see where both teams land in that poll. But if the coaches' poll is any indication, the teams should both be in the top 10, making this first game of the year for both squads a big one.
