LSU Head Coach Gets Six Year Contract and Raise
LSU head coach, Ed Orgeron, has been signed to a six year contract with a $7 million a year raise.
Orgeron has definitely earned this raise after the season LSU has had. Orgeron agreed to a deal of $7 million per year over the next six years. This means that for the next six years Orgeron's base salary will be $6 million. This will keep the award-winning coach in Baton Rouge until at least 2026. The contract is worth more than $42 million. This contract will need to be approved by the LSU Board of Supervisors. That meeting will be on March 6, 2020.
This is the second contract extension for Coach Orgeron in the past year. He signed a two-year extension in March for $4 million a year. Let's not forget that not only did LSU win the National Championship but Orgeron received the consensus Coach of the Year award. That also landed him with a $75,000 bonus, which was well deserved.
Orgeron now has a 40-9 overall record at LSU. This new contract will place him within the top five highest-paid coaches in the NCAA. To see more on the NCAA salaries go to USA Today.
