Looks like another beloved Department Store is on its way to closing.

This "big box" retailer, well-known for its renowned Christmas parades, declared last year that it would be closing hundreds of stores nationwide.

We now know which Texas locations will be closing as the corporation starts to eliminate what it refers to as "unproductive stores" in an effort to try to turn things around and save the company, which has been in operation for more than a century.

The company Macy's announced in a press statement that 66 of its stores will be closing. The corporation unveiled "the Bold New Chapter strategy" in February 2024, and these closures are a part of it.

The strategy calls for shutting about 150 underperforming shops over a three-year period and investing in the 350 remaining Macy's sites through fiscal 2026 in order to bring the firm back to sustainable, profitable sales growth.

The 66 locations set to close are spread across these states:

  • Arizona
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Idaho
  • Massachusetts
  • Maryland
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • Missouri
  • New Jersey
  • Ohio
  • Orego
  • Pennsylvania
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Virginia
  • Washington

This month marks the beginning of clearance sales at affected Macy's locations, which will last for about eight to twelve weeks. Clearance discounts at Macy's Furniture Galleries will begin in February and continue through March. At these closed locations, coupons are only accepted through January 12.

Many are anticipated to close in the first quarter of the year, while the precise date of the closures is still unknown. The following Texas locations are closing:

  • Houston: Fairview's Almeda Mall
  • Plano: Willow Bend shops
  • Southlake: Town Square in Southlake
  • Flower Mound: Highlands of Flower Mound, West Bend, Fort Worth

Time will tell, but although this could seem like bad news for the stores in these areas, it might be the spark that saves the business as a whole. For the time being, you should take advantage of the opportunity to save money on high-quality goods.
