KDFA Mardi Gras Golf Classic Benefiting Buddy Russ Foundation Set For May 2026

Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - The 2nd annual Mardi Gras Golf Classic will tee off on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the beautiful Contraband Bayou Golf Course, located at the L'auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This exciting charity event will begin at 8:30 AM with a shotgun start, bringing together golf enthusiasts and supporters of a great cause.

The tournament is hosted by the Krewe De Fous Amis and the Buddy Russ Foundation, an organization founded in memory of Buddy Russ Conrad, a beloved community member and radio host who battled cancer until he passed away three years ago.

The foundation’s mission is to support individuals and families facing cancer, offering financial assistance and emotional encouragement during difficult times. A portion of the funds raised during this event will help the foundation continue its vital work in supporting cancer patients and their families.

The Mardi Gras Golf Classic will not only provide a fun and competitive day on one of Louisiana’s most beautiful courses but also contribute to a worthy cause. Last year, we were able to donate to Russ's dad, Mr. Dave, aka Pop, a check for $5000 for the foundation, all due to the generosity of the golfers and the players who attended the event.
