McNeese’s Amir “Aura” Khan Drops New Viral Walkout Video
Lake Charles, Louisiana (KNGT-FM) - March Madness is right around the corner, and that can only mean one thing... AURA is Back!
Last season, McNeese student manager Amir "Aura" Khan went viral for his videos leading the McNeese Men's Basketball team out of the locker room before their games.

Student managers in college basketball are often the forgotten unsung heroes of a program, working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly. From setting up practice equipment and rebounding for players to handling laundry and even helping with practice drills and running scouts, their contributions go far beyond what most fans see.
Student Managers are often asked to put in long hours with the team on and off the floor, including doing all of it out of the kindness of their own hearts, most without financial compensation.
The Rise of McNeese's Amir "Aura" Khan
McNeese Student Manager Amir Khan captured the hearts of college basketball fans all across the country after McNeese creative specialist Phillip Mitchell posted a video to Social Media of Khan and the Cowboys singing and jamming out to "In and Out" by Lud Foe before the Cowboys took to the floor in a game last season.
Khan's stardom ultimately reached unheard-of levels when he met figures like legendary filmmaker Spike Lee, basketball reporter Shams Charania, Chris Paul, and many others.
Riding the wave of the viral moment and the March Madness chaos, Khan also secured a few deals with major companies in the process. The viral manager secured deals with companies like TurboTax, Insomnia Cookies, Buffalo Wild Wings, Tick Pick, and many others.
As someone who has been in Lake Charles to watch it all unfold, it has been fascinating. Khan is such a down-to-earth and nice human being. My favorite part of Khan going viral in 2025 was the morning of the Purdue game. After McNeese secured its first March Madness win ever by defeating Clemson, they were passing out AMIR KHAN SOCKS! (I still have a pair of them somewhere!)

Where Has "Aura" Been During the 2025-26 Basketball Season?
It appeared like Khan was going to follow Will Wade to N.C. State, but he has ultimately been with the McNeese program for most of the season. The viral sensation came back to McNeese because he missed being in Lake Charles, being around his family, and his college credits weren't going to transfer correctly in order to graduate on time. Amir made his way back to Lake Charles, and it's been another exciting season in Lake Charles.
Amir Khan has been hard at work helping out the 2026 McNeese Men's Basketball team as they have guided them through the Southland Conference season and have secured the #2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament under 1st year head coach Bill Armstrong.
