McNeese Baseball & Softball Unveil 2025 Schedules

Spring sports are right around the corner and McNeese fans are already gearing up for another exciting Baseball & Softball season. Both squads released their 2025 schedules earlier this week.

For McNeese baseball, the Cowboys will host two non-conference series at Joe Miller Ballpark, also known as "The Jeaux." They’ll face Wichita State from February 14-16 and Oakland from February 21-23. The series against Oakland will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Wichita State last played in Lake Charles during opening weekend in 2018.

Conference play begins early, with McNeese taking on Nicholls on the last day of February. This year’s conference schedule includes two more opponents than last season. The Cowboys will travel to UTRGV for the first time since 2007, now as conference rivals. Later in the season, McNeese will host Stephen F. Austin, which rejoined the Southland Conference over the summer. The last time the Cowboys and Lumberjacks played was in 2022, with their last conference game happening in 2021.

McNeese has a packed non-conference lineup this season. They’ll play Texas A&M, UL-Lafayette, Dillard, Mississippi Valley State, Southern, Alcorn, LSU, Louisiana Christian, and Houston. The matchup against Dillard will also be a historic first meeting for the Cowboys.

For McNeese softball, the schedule is packed with exciting tournaments and games. The Cowgirls will host two tournaments at home, bringing big-name teams like Tennessee, Missouri State, Tulsa, Nicholls, Houston, Ole Miss, and Missouri-Kansas City to Lake Charles. They’ll also compete in the Tarleton State Tournament from February 6-8, where they’ll face Tarleton State, Bucknell, and Marist during opening weekend.

Later, McNeese will head to Auburn for a tournament from February 28 to March 2. There, they’ll take on UL-Lafayette, Auburn, and Rutgers.

Seven of the teams on this year’s schedule played in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, including Tennessee, which made it to the Super Regionals. Other tournament teams include Ole Miss, UL-Lafayette, Auburn, South Alabama, LSU, and Southeastern.
