Lake Charles, Louisiana (KNGT-FM) - We know everyone is focused on the middle of football season, but don't look too soon, because basketball season will be here before we know it. McNeese is allowing fans to check out the 2025-26 Men's team, and we've got what you need to know about the event.

I have been able to check out a few of the pre-season practices for both the Cowboys and Cowgirls, and trust me, Cowboy and Cowgirl basketball is going to be a treat to watch this season.

NCAA Allows Teams To Host Preseason Exhibitions

Back in January, the NCAA announced changes to Division I men’s basketball preseason rules for 2025–26. Teams can now play up to two exhibition games against any four-year school, keep revenue from those games, and hold more flexible, open scrimmages, which allows programs extra prep time before the season.

McNeese Basketball To Host Grambling on October 26th

McNeese Men’s Basketball is set to tip off the season with its Fan Fest Exhibition Game on October 26 at 3 p.m. inside Townsley Law Arena. The event is free and open to the public, and it’s shaping up to be a fun afternoon for fans of all ages. Cowboy fans will get to check out the men's basketball team as they play an exhibition game against Grambling State. There will be a kids' zone and fun jumps to keep the little ones entertained.

Once the exhibition ends, fans will have a chance to meet the team and grab autographs. There will also be sponsor giveaways throughout the event.
