The McNeese Cowboys broke into the top 20 this week after their win over Stephen F Austin last Saturday.  The Pokes beat the Lumberjacks 28-14 to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Last week, the Cowboys were sitting right outside the Top 20 and were ranked #21. Well after their 2-0 start and victory last Saturday, the Cowboys have moved up four spots in the FCS Coaches Poll and are now ranked #17 in the nation.

The highest ranked team in the Southland Conference (SLC) is Sam Houston State who are ranked #14 even though they are 0-2 on the year.  Straching my head on that one!  McNeese is the second highest ranked SLC team in the poll.  The only other SLC team in the poll is Southeastern Louisiana who sits at #19.

The Cowboys will step out of Southland conference play this Saturday when they host Mississippi College at Cowboy's stadium in Lake Charles.  The Mississippi Choctaws are from the Gulf South Conference and are 2-1 on the season.

Kickoff for the game is set for 6:00 p.m. in Lake Charles.
