The McNeese Cowboys football can do something tonight that haven't done in since 2009 which is win the Southland Conference championship!  What is even better is and the icing on the cake  will be the pokes will also get an automatic berth into FCS playoffs.

The #5 ranked Cowboys will have a tough task tonight though as they host # 9 Sam Houston Bearkats in Cowboy's stadium.  Tonight's game also has a 80% chance of rain so it could get sloppy and hard to hold onto the ball.  The Cowboys will need to make sure to eliminate turnovers and control the clock and the ball.

The last time the Cowboys made it into the playoffs was back in 2013 when the made it into the first round and took on Jacksonville State.  The pokes lost to Jacksonville State 31-10 and were eliminated from the playoff's.

The Cowboys are 8-0 for the fifth time in school history (1963, 1979, 1995, 2007) and at 7-0 in league play, is one win away from becoming the first team in conference history to win eight league games in a season. But it won't come easy as the Cowboys will be facing their toughest challenge yet in the Bearkats who rank No. 2 in the nation in both total offense and scoring offense.

Kick off for tonight's game is at 6:00 p.m.  If you can't make it out to the game, you can listen to the game on our sister station 92.9 the Lake.
