
McNeese Sells Naming Rights to Cowboy Stadium in Major Deal
Lake Charles, Louisiana (KNGT-FM) - With a new era of Cowboy Football on the horizon, the same can be said about Cowboy Stadium. On Wednesday, Athletics Director Heath Schroyer announced the purchase of the naming rights of Cowboy Stadium.
Navarre Purchases Naming Rights To Cowboy Stadium
In a room filled with AD Heath Schroyer, President Wade Rousse, other school dignitaries, and fans, the new name for Cowboy Stadium was officially introduced.
The new name of the McNeese Football Stadium will be "Navarre Stadium."
This is the second major naming rights deal in the history of McNeese Athletics, following the Legacy Center agreement in 2021. With the sale of naming rights to some of the athletics facilities around campus, this continues to bring in additional funds and create new opportunities for fresh revenue to the school, helping put McNeese on a level playing field with other universities.

Naming rights have become bigger than ever in Collegiate Athletics, with more and more money needed every day to support paying athletes for their services.
Colleges across the country are starting to sell naming rights to their sports stadiums and arenas to make extra money. The idea gained significant attention in 2015 when the University of Washington signed a major deal with Alaska Airlines. Since then, more schools have followed, including Kentucky, USC, Florida Atlantic, the University of New Mexico, and many others.
This is a trend that has been at the professional level for quite some time. Most professional stadiums are named after a brand, but this is because these arenas and ballparks are often used for many events besides the sport.

McNeese is just the latest athletic department to jump on the trend of selling off the naming rights of its football stadium.
Navarre Auto Group has been a major supporter of McNeese Athletics for quite some time. Owner Ryan Navarre says, "I am so happy to be a part of the event that is about to happen on this campus" (future of McNeese. "I've always had a special place in my heart for this place."
The agreement with Navarre will be a 10-year deal, that is valued at five million dollars.
In regard to the stadium name, fans can already see the name high above the stadium atop the newly finished press box.
