The McNeese Lady Cowgirls won the Southland Conference championship over the weekend sweeping the competition in Lake Charles.

The softball team finished the regular season at an impressive 40-19 on the year.

With the championship win, the Cowgirls got an automatic bid in a NCAA regional and they found out that their next stop will be in College Station, Texas home of Texas A&M.

The four team regional consists of Baylor, Texas A&M, McNeese and Prairie View.

McNeese will first see action in the regional on Friday afternoon when they take on a familiar opponent in Baylor.  The Cowgirls have faced Baylor three times this season with Baylor winning two of three of the games.

McNeese and Baylor will face off at 3:30 p.m. and the game will be on ESPN3.
