Lake Charles, La [KNGT-FM] - Have you ever heard the saying, What a difference a year makes? In my case, it's true. Just one year ago, I was approached about endorsing a weight loss doctor's office on the radio. Let me tell you. I am not a fan of needles and going to the doctor, so to say I was a little apprehensive at first is an understatement.

I went to the meeting a year ago today and talked with the folks at Healthy Size Lake Charles about the endorsement and to find out what it was all about. Little did I know that that meeting would save my life. After the meeting, the nurse said, Let's weigh you and take your blood pressure, and make sure things are good with you before we start the weight loss journey.

I weighed in, and at that time, I weighed 276 pounds. I am six foot five, so I didn't think I was that big, and I carried my weight well. Then I realized that that was the heaviest I had ever weighed in my life. Then the nurse took my blood pressure and was stunned to see what she saw. My blood pressure at the time was 188/108. She said I needed to immediately go to a hospital emergency room because I was having stroke symptoms and needed to seek care asap. I called my primary doctor, and he called me out some blood pressure medicine, and we monitored it from there.

Needless to say, I knew things needed to change immediately. I began my weight loss journey with Healthy Size Lake Charles and received GLP-1 injections. I also made a major conscious effort to eat better. With their help, giving me a list of things that were best to eat, and exercising portion control, I started losing the weight.

I was laser-focused on getting healthy for my family and me, and losing the weight so I would not have blood pressure or any other type of health issues. After staying strict on myself, I lost 65 pounds in about six and a half months, and in May of this year, I went into what they called maintenance, where you stay eating right but don't have to come get the GLP-1 injections as often, and as a matter of fact, I have only been going in once a month.

My wife also started her weight loss journey and looks terrific too, not that she wasn't always a beautiful lady. Whew, saved it there lol. Here we are below. The picture on the left was from a year and a half ago, and the one on the right is from about three months ago.

I am happy to report that on my first anniversary today, I have kept off the weight for the past six months and weigh a healthy 210 pounds. My blood pressure is back to normal, and I don't take any medicines. I can't thank the gals at Healthy Size enough and would also say thank you to all my family, friends, listeners, and supporters who encouraged me, said kind words to me, and helped me get through this journey.

I have more energy (Not that I needed more LOL), but my metabolism is back up, and I feel great. Now I can look forward to many more years with my wifey, kiddos, and grandkids, and being on the radio with you for a long time to come. Thank you for all the love and support.
