After a short closure for upgrades, Millennium Park has reopened, welcoming kids and parents once again to enjoy its colorful play areas and community-focused atmosphere.

It is just in time as the This Is Home Festival is taking place this Saturday, April 18th, next to the park. For more than two decades, it has served as a go-to destination where children can play, explore, and burn off energy while parents relax and connect.

This latest temporary closure, which began on March 25, 2026, was all about keeping that experience safe and enjoyable. The City of Lake Charles completed surface improvements designed to enhance safety and extend the playground's lifespan.

According to city officials, the updates focused on refreshing and maintaining the park’s play surfaces to ensure kids can continue to enjoy it for years to come.
