We always are happy to see new stores, events, and restaurants open up in the Southwest Louisiana area. On the flip side, we are sad when we see that a local restaurant or business decides to shut its doors for good.

Such is the case in Moss Bluff as a local restaurant has announced that they have decided to close its doors for good at its Moss Bluff, Louisiana location.

The restaurant we are talking about had three locations in Southwest Louisiana. One is located in Sulphur at 2237 Maplewood Drive. The second location is located in Lake Charles at 2740 Country Club Road.

The third location is the one that has closed. The restaurant we are talking about is Taco Mel and the location at 1355 Sam Houston Jones Parkway has decided to close its doors. The Mexican restaurant took to Facebook to make the announcement.

It looks like the restaurant opened its doors in Moss Bluff only a little over a year ago. According to their post, it opened on July 15th, 2022. The Taco Mel in Moss Bluff was open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. They didn't announce what prompted the closer for the Moss Bluff location.

We looked around their Facebook page and noticed that in the past few months, they had posted that they were looking to hire cashiers and other workers. Was the lack of staff a reason for their closing?

We can't confirm that but we do know other local business owners in Southwest Louisiana who have said they have been having that same problem, the lack of staff.

The good news Taco Mel lovers is that the restaurant still has two other locations in Lake Charles and Sulphur for you to go out and eat and enjoy.

Can You Pronounce These Nine Louisiana Places Correctly?
