National App Day: Millions of Apps Changing How We Live and Work
🐊 KNGT 🐊 | Louisiana — Y’all, it’s kinda wild how fast the world changes. One minute we’re all out here playin’ Snake on those old Nokia bricks, and now we got phones that can run our whole life. And today… well, today is the perfect day to talk about it. According to the National Day Calendar, today is National App Day. Yep. A whole day just for the little squares on our phones that run our world.
Whats the Best App for your Phone?
And look, I ain’t even gonna pretend like I’m some tech genius. I use the same two apps like most of y’all do. My favorite one? Facebook. I know what your thinking, but thats how I stay up to date with all my peeps, and see what Mike cooked for supper last night.
And the other one? The calculator. Lord help me, that little thing has saved my life more times than I can count. I use it for work, for bills, and sometimes just to figure out how broke I’m about to be after Christmas shopping. That app don’t ever lie.
But National App Day is really about all the ways these apps changed our life. When phones got smart, processors, touchscreens, Wi-Fi, all that fancy stuff, folks started makin’ apps for everything. Back in 2007 when the iPhone came out, that’s when it really took off. Then in 2008, Apple rolled out OS 2.0 and had around 500 apps. Now? There’s over 3 million apps between Apple and Android. Everything from work, to fun, to keeping us safe, to helpin’ us remember where we parked at the mall.
National App Day started in 2017 thanks to Platinum Edge Media and CJ Thompson. They wanted to celebrate how apps shape our culture and spark creativity. Kinda neat when you think about it.
So here’s my question for y’all, what’s your favorite app? Like the one you use every single day without even thinkin’ about it? Drop it in the comments. I’m curious what everybody’s hooked on.
Join in with #NationalAppDay and tell the world why you can’t live without it… even if it’s something simple like the flashlight or the weather app.
Alright y’all, your turn. What app is YOUR go-to?
