Alright Southwest Louisiana… I just learned something that might be the best news we heard all week on Gator 99.5.

This Friday, February 20th, is National Comfy Day… and I feel like this holiday was made just for us after a long Mardi Gras run.

National Comfy Day is all about slowing down and getting cozy. Put on that old hoodie you refuse to throw away. Grab that blanket that smells like home. Sit in your favorite chair. Take a breath and relax a little. Life gets busy. Work, kids, school, bills, parades, bead chasing… it’s a lot. This day says it’s ok to chill for a bit.

The word comfy just means comfortable. Simple as that. For some folks it’s a nap on the couch. For others it’s a hot bowl of gumbo, a good country playlist, and the dog curled up next to you. Around my house, comfy is me, Laura, and Hannah piled up watching a movie with snacks everywhere. That’s peace right there.

Why do we Celebrate National Comfy Day?

The holiday was started by two brothers who made that big wearable blanket called “The Comfy.” They pitched it on Shark Tank and it blew up big time. Now they got comfy stuff all over the world. But honestly, you don’t need fancy gear to celebrate. Just find your happy spot and enjoy it.

How do you celebrate? Easy. Wear comfy clothes. Give somebody a cozy gift. Order takeout. Put on some George Strait or 90s country trivia and relax. Post your pics online with #NationalComfyDay and let’s see how SWLA does comfy.

So here’s my challenge, y’all. Friday night… turn the phone off early. Put the boots by the door. Grab a blanket. Hug your people.

We party hard in Lake Charles, but we can rest hard too. And after all these Mardi Gras parades and Beads on the Floor Tour stops… I think we earned it.
