
New Cruise Line Drops Anchor in Galveston, Texas
Lake Charles, La [KNGT-FM] - In recent years, cruises have become one of the most popular types of vacations. In Southwest and Central Louisiana, as well as in Texas, it makes perfect sense because the Port of Galveston is not a far drive. You can drive just a few hours down to Galveston Island and board a ship, and head off to fabulous ports in the Caribbean.
If you are a frequent cruiser, then you already know that there are several cruise lines to choose from to sail out of Galveston on your vacation. For years, Carnival and Royal Caribbean have been the standards in the port, but in recent years, more and more cruise lines have been making the Port of Galveston one of their sailing destinations.

Carnival and Royal Caribbean aren’t the only big names anymore. Norwegian and Disney Cruise Lines have joined the fun. And now, as of Monday, November 10, 2025, there’s a new ship in town, with another cruise line officially sailing from the port.

Yesterday, the cruise line MSC welcomed passengers for its first voyage out of the Port of Galveston. The new ship sailing out of the port is called the MSC Seascape. The ship was built in 2022. The Seascape is 1,112 feet long and can accommodate up to 5,877 passengers and 1,648 crew members at maximum capacity. The ship has 20 decks and features a ton of amenities.
