Oreo Just Made a Chicken & Waffles Cookie, and We Have Questions

KNGT | Louisiana — I came across something over the weekend that stopped me dead in my tracks. Oreo has lost their mind and has made a Chicken & Waffles cookie. Yep. Chicken. Waffles. OREO. Imma be honest with y'all. What the hell were they thinking?

Now don't get me wrong.  I love chicken and waffles, and I love Oreos.....But together? We gotta talk about this. This isn't just somebody making something weird on TikTok either. Oreo is actually rolling out three new limited-edition flavors: Chicken & Waffles, Deep Fried and Banana Pudding. They'll be available for online presale August 17, then they're supposed to start showing up in stores around the country August 24. And Chicken & Waffles is exactly what it sounds like.

According to Mashed.com, the cookie has that waffle look on the outside, kinda like what you'd expect if an Oreo and a Nutter Butter had a strange little breakfast baby. Inside is where things get wild. You get sweet maple flavor mixed with savory fried chicken flavor. The cookie even brings in salty and peppery flavors. Black pepper. Paprika. In an Oreo. I don't know who was sitting around that Oreo meeting when somebody said, "You know what this cookie needs? Pepper." But apparently everybody else nodded and went with it.

Here's where my confusion is coming in, what are we dipping it in? I cant imagine that milk would be the right choice. Maybe we need gravy. Maybe syrup. Maybe Cane's sauce. Maybe we just eat it dry and keep a glass of sweet tea nearby in case things go south.

The Other Two Flavors Actually Sound Pretty Good. The crazy part is Chicken & Waffles isn't the only new Oreo. There's also a Deep Fried Oreo Cookie. Now this makes sense.

Oreo took that one carnival food that we all love and just said "Hold my beer and watch this". Their version uses fried dough-flavored cookies with dark chocolate and fried dough-flavored creme inside.

Now THAT I can get behind. We've deep fried just about everything imaginable around Louisiana. If somebody figured out how to deep fry a gumbo, we'd probably have a booth selling it at a festival by Saturday.

Then there's Banana Pudding Oreo. This one might be my top choice. Cookie Waffles with a Banana Pudding inside.....sign me up! Give me a pack of those and a cold glass of milk, and I might accidentally make half the package disappear while standing at the kitchen counter.

Only One Flavor Gets To Come Back. Here's where Oreo is making this even more interesting. These three flavors are part of a fan vote. Folks will be able to try them and vote for their favorite. Voting runs through October 12, and Oreo plans to announce the winner October 13. The winning flavor is supposed to come back in 2027.

So now I feel like we have a responsibility here. I gotta try these things. Banana Pudding? Absolutely. Deep Fried? Yep. Chicken & Waffles?

The only thing I haven't figured out is what I'm supposed to drink with it. So help me out. If somebody hands you a Chicken & Waffles Oreo, what are YOU dipping it in? Milk? Maple syrup? Gravy? Or are you putting the whole package right back on the shelf and walking away?
