Things are changing up in Vernon Parish as the Vernon Parish School board was returned a survey from parents about their uniform policy. It's something a lot of parents in Calcasieu Parish think should be done as well. Pickering High School students will no longer be required to wear uniforms for the upcoming school year in 2022-2023.

The School Board removed the policy from the school, according to KPLC, with the notes that the non-uniform attire of the students must still be appropriate for school. Just as before the uniform policy, the clothes of the students must not interrupt school activities or be a distraction.

Pickering High Scholl announced the decision yesterday morning on their Facebook page and they have already updated their handbook to reflect the change.

...we are announcing that Pickering High School will do away with the current uniform policy and allow students to dress in the Vernon Parish Dress Code Guidelines for the 2022-2023 school year.

For the entire handbook and a better view of the new policy, you can find it on the school's website.  As of right now, Calcasieu Parish is holding onto their uniform policy with no changes in place.
