Parades Will Not Be Allowed in 2021 for NOLA Mardi Gras
Not surprising, but still sad, New Orleans officials announced there will be no parades during the Mardi Gras season for 2021. These krewe-based parades bring in hundreds of thousands of people to the New Orleans area, and they all pile up along the parade route. However, the fallout from these parades could be another giant wave of cases.
This isn't the first parade series to be throw to the cutting room floor. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade has already made arrangements to not allow crowds to attend along its routes, nor is it allowing anyone under the age of 18 to participate in it for the 2020 year.
What does that look like for Lake Charles? There has been no official word from anyone about the situation. With the Lake Area having one of the state's largest celebrations with parades and events, I am sure we will see some cancellations and big changes coming down the way soon.
I am not sure what a socially distant parade looks like, but I also know I hope I don't have to see that be the case, either. Having ridden on a ton of floats DJing for these parades, we all know they're jam-packed with riders. Having to be six feet apart on a parade float really doesn't sound all that fun.
