Piccadilly CEO Says It Will Return to Lake Charles
At its peak, Piccadilly had 240 stores running. After some financial issues and declining sales, that number fell to just 41 stores open across the nation. It appears, according to CEO Azam Malik, that with a new focus on the convenience of to go orders, it has started to take the franchise back to making money.
Memphis was the first to see a to-go only store with no inside dining. This new to-go order style now accounts for 20% of the chain's overall revenue, according to Malik. To go along with this "new to them" trend, Piccadilly now has an app for customers to order and pick up quicker from the store.
Currently, the 41 stores open stores are spread out across Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, and Louisiana. There seem to be more on the way to these areas, as well. Malik said they will be opening their first new store in the chain's 20 years in Denham Springs, LA.
While talking about the store's opening and markets it will be getting back into, Malik mentioned that his focus is to double the number of stores Piccadilly has over the next few years by going back into markets they abandoned just a few years ago, "such as Lake Charles."
