In what seemed to be a surprise for most, Randy Travis made an appearance at the ACM Awards in Arlington, TX last night and received a standing ovation! Lee Brice sang a verse and chorus of the Travis hit "Forever and Ever Amen", pointed Travis out to a shocked crowd and went on to announce the nominees for song of the year.

Randy Travis, 55, suffered a life threatening stroke almost two years ago and his recovery has been slow, but steady. He was not able to speak at the awards show, but we were able to see the emotion in his face. There wasn't any indication that he would be attending the show.  His fiance' Mary Davis, fans and other country singers have been providing updates on his recovery regularly.

Travis has a rich history with the ACM Awards and is the recipient of 10 awards. Because of his inability to speak, he wrote a letter after the ceremony last night for his fans. Here's to his continued recovery!
