This Lake Charles Mardi Gras Event Comes With a Special Purpose

KNGT | Lake Charles, LA — I’ve seen a lotta Mardi Gras fundraisers over the years, but every now and then one comes across my screen that makes me stop and say, “Yep, I need to help get the word out about this one.” That happened when I saw what Krewe Des Cheramis has planned for October in Lake Charles.

Tons of Mardi Gras Krewes around Southwest Louisiana put on events to raise money and it always goes to a great cause. They raise money for float maintenance and also help local charities. Krewe Des Cheramis is doing exactly that with its Red, White and Boo Champagne Bingo. And yes, I gotta admit, the name caught my attention too.

Red, White and Boo Champagne Bingo Is Coming to Lake Charles

The event is happening Friday, October 10th, at the CFMA Building, located at 3481 E. Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles. Doors open at 5 p.m., and bingo gets rolling at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person, and that gets you 10 games of bingo. But bingo ain't the only thing happening that night.

They'll also have silent auctions and Split the Pot, so there will be plenty of chances to have some fun and maybe even head home with a little something extra. The part that really caught my attention, though, is where some of the money is going. A portion of the donations raised during the event will goto the City of Refuge Veterans Shelter.

Hurricanes, fundraisers, benefits, cookoffs, somebody passing the bucket at an event. When there's a good cause involved, folks around here usually find a way to help. And this one sounds like a pretty easy way to do it. You get out of the house on a Saturday night, play some bingo, maybe win something, have a good time with your friends, and part of the money raised helps local veterans. Sounds like a pretty good night to me.

If you'd like more information about the Red, White and Boo Champagne Bingo or want to find out about tickets, you can email Krewe Des Cheramis at krewedescheramis@gmail.com.

October 10th will be here before we know it, so if bingo is your thing, you may wanna get this one on the calendar.
