After Buffalo Wild Wings moved into their new building across the street, it was only a matter of time before a new restaurant was ready to move in. It seems that is the case now. However, most residents aren't too surprised as to what style of food it will be, nor do they seem extremely excited about it.

The liquor permit on the door of the building lists the new eatery as Nogal Mexican Cuisine and Bar. It appears they are based out of Deville, Louisiana. According to their website, their food style is a combination of grilling and Mexican. Honestly, they will be in an amazing spot to catch traffic from the casinos and hotels in the area. The other thing to realize is that the building they are going into can't be cheap for where it is. That would tell me that they have their stuff together and are prepared to work hard to be a good place to go and eat. Then there's the elephant in the room.

Does Lake Charles REALLY need another Mexican restaurant? I am too lazy to do a full count of how many we have, but I did stop after getting to 13. The old Ryan's Steakhouse is being rebuilt to also be one as well. I will say this, for Cinco de Mayo, there was not a single Mexican place with a vacant parking place. Granted that is one day a year, but it does seem the majority of Lake Charles likes it some south of the border cuisine.

As I read through the complaints and "suggestions", it dawned on me. No matter what business it Is or what type of food it is, it means money back into our city. It means job openings, it means growth in a city that has been through a lot. So if you aren't a fan of the style of food, at least look at the tortilla half full and be happy people are trying to open up businesses in Lake Charles and not just closing more and more doors to never be replaced.
