Rouses Market is one of the largest independent grocers and fastest growing family-owned companies in the United States.

Rouses is based out of Thibodoux, Louisiana and employs more than 7,000 people across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. This year marks their 60th in business. They have 64 stores in all, with 53 in Louisiana, eight in Alabama and three along the Mississippi coast.

Southwest Louisiana is home to two Rouses locations, with the third expected to open on October 14. Rouses Market in Sulphur opened in 2018 and a second location soon followed in Moss Bluff.

The new 44,000-square-foot market will be located at the corner of Nelson Road and Ham Reid roundabout in South Lake Charles.

Customers will enjoy an expansive produce department that offers hundreds of local, seasonal, and fresh fruit and vegetables. Their in-store chop shop will offer smoked beef, poultry, and pork.

Each year, Rouses offers over 55 different flavors of their unique, in-house baked king cakes during the Mardi Gras season. I suggest trying the Gentilly and cookies and cream!
