Gumbo and Swamp Pop Music Take Center Stage in Lake Charles

Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM ] - As cooler weather settles into Southwest Louisiana, gumbo season officially kicks into high gear. This November, one of Lake Charles' favorite family attractions will celebrate the region's favorite comfort food with a weekend packed full of great food, live music, and outdoor fun.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort will host its Gumbo Cook-Off on Saturday, November 21, 2026, inviting cooks, campers, and visitors to experience a true taste of Louisiana culture.

The event will pair a friendly gumbo competition with an evening of live Swamp Pop music, creating a family-friendly festival that highlights two local traditions.

Since opening its doors, the resort on Luke Powers Road has become a popular destination for families from across Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas.
