The date was May 4, 1975, and The King Of Rock And Roll, Elvis Presley, made a stop in Southwest Louisiana for two shows at the Lake Charles Civic Center.

The civic center at the time was just three years old and with a seating capacity of 7500 fans in the main coliseum. When they had Elvis perform, he sold 10,000 tickets for the two shows. Elvis played an afternoon show and an evening show that day here in Lake Charles.

We found a video from a YouTube channel called Elvis Back on Tour which featured Lake Charles, Louisiana, The Civic Center, and the history behind Elvis's two shows here in Lake Charles.

It chronicles with photos of Elvis when he arrived here in Lake Charles at his hotel and when he left his hotel, where he entered the Civic Center to perform, and even a picture of him leaving in a limo after the show. It even has some audio in the video from that night. Check out how cool this is.

Fun fact for you. My dad, Dave Soileau, was a Lake Charles Police Department officer and was doing security detail for the concert. Dad told me he walked Elvis from his car to the stage and when the concert was over, he walked Elvis back to his limo. Cool huh?

But wait, we have more for you! We also found a video on YouTube from a channel called Kryptic Jonnie which actually has the full recording from the nighttime concert Elvis put on inside the Lake Charles Civic Center on May 4th, 1975. Did he play one of your favorites?  Take a Listen.

How fun was that going down memory lane? As for me, I wish I was old enough to remember when Elvis came but I enjoyed the history lesson and I hope you did too.
