It's Monday and as we start a new week, the threat of heavy rains, fog, and even some severe thunderstorms are in the mix to start this first full week of March. It has been relatively dry the past couple of weeks but that could all change starting this afternoon as you commute home.

The National Weather Service is calling for showers and possible thunderstorms to start after 5:00 pm today and carry over to Monday night into Tuesday.for Southwest Louisiana.

Experts are saying the severe weather could be located in Central Louisiana and move towards the East part of the state. So far the National Weather Service is calling for a couple of inches of rain for the Southwest Louisiana area Monday evening into Tuesday.

So make sure you have your raincoat or umbrella handy especially as you head home from work tonight as the rain is likely to start after 5:00 pm today. Also, a reminder since Southwest Louisiana has so many bridges, take a few extra minutes to drive with caution if the rain becomes severe during your commute home.
