Celebrate National Hat Day With Your Favorite Headgear
🐊 KNGT 🐊 | Louisiana — The one thing I love is looking up What National Day it is, and Today did not disappoint, Alright, Its National Hat Day. Like many of you, I dont leave the house without my Cowboy hat, its kinda become my "Signature Look".
Around here, hats ain’t fashion statements most of the time. They’re just… part of life. You grab one on the way out the door. Ball cap, beanie, cowboy hat, whatever’s closest. Some are clean. Some are beat up. Those are usually the good ones.
People wear hats for all kinds of reasons. Sun’s too bright. Cold’s too sharp. Hair didn’t cooperate. Or you just feel better with one on. Simple as that. Nobody overthinks it.
But hats go way back. Like way back. One of the oldest pictures of a hat shows a man wearing a cone-shaped straw hat in an old tomb painting from Thebes.
How long have we been Celebrating Hat Day?
National Hat Day’s been around since at least the 80s. Schools, libraries, museums, they all jumped in. Kids show up in pirate hats and football helmets. Workers wear hats from their jobs. Everybody just has fun with it.
So yeah, if you needed an excuse to wear your favorite hat today, this is it. Toss it on. Take a picture. Tell the story behind it. Use #NationalHatDay.
And if you’re stepping outside in this January weather, wearing a hat just makes sense anyway.
Some things don’t need a reason. Hats are one of them.
