Yesterday the big weather event with heavy rain and downpours reeked havoc all over Southwest Louisiana with road closures and major flooding.

Some areas of Southwest Louisiana received 8 to 10 inches of rain causing areas to become impassable.  The huge weather event also caused officials to make a decision to close schools in certain parishes today.

Allen, Jeff Davis and Beauregard parish schools are all closed today.  In Calcasieu Parish, Grace Covenant Academy in Lake Charles will also be closed.

In Iowa, a school bus was almost swept away due to high waters on the roadway so that was one reason officials probably decided to close schools until the water recedes.

Good news for all of us though is that the forecast calls for no rain for the next 7 days.  The forecast calls for sunny skies everyday with highs in the middle to upper 70's and lows in the middle to upper 50's.
