Hunter Feduccia, Will Dion Both Traded at MLB Deadline

KNGT-FM - Two former Southwest Louisiana stars found themselves packing up and finding a new home after Monday's Major League Baseball trade deadline passed. Former Sulphur Tor Will Dion and Former Barbe Buc Hunter Feduccia were both moved as part of deals during the fiasco of Monday's deadline.

The days and weeks leading up to the Major League Baseball trade deadline can be hectic and chaotic for many reasons, whether for front offices, players, coaches, or fans.

The Southwest Louisiana area has been known for years to breed some of the best baseball players in the whole State of Louisiana. Every year, SWLA is well-represented at the high school baseball State Championships. Recently, there were a few more local players who were drafted in the 2026 MLB Draft, including Sulphur's Jake Brown, Barbe's Gavin Guidry, Barbe's JC Vanek, and McNeese's Eric Nachtsheim.

SWLA native Hunter Feduccia is headed back to Los Angeles

The former Barbe High School standout was traded back to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline after the Dodgers acquired him from the Tampa Bay Rays. Feduccia was part of a deal that sent minor league outfielder Jack Suwinski to Tampa Bay. The move reunites Feduccia with the Dodgers organization, where he was originally drafted in the 12th round of the 2018 MLB Draft.

Sulphur native and former McNeese pitcher Will Dion Traded To Washington

The Cleveland Guardians traded Dion to the Washington Nationals on Monday as part of a five-player deal that also included Josh Hartle, Kendeglys Virguez, and Nick Mitchell in exchange for pitcher Foster Griffin. The former Sulphur and McNeese star made his MLB debut with the Guardians earlier this year and has spent time between the Guardians' AAA team and the Big Leagues. Dion has appeared in 19.2 innings this season, posting a 4.58 ERA while striking out 29.4% of batters faced.
