September Is Here, So When Will SWLA Finally Feel Like Fall?
KNGT | Lake Charles, LA — Alright y’all… welcome back to another Cajun Weekend Weather Report, and I hate to be the one to break the news...The calendar might say September. But Louisiana apparently did NOT get the memo. If you were hoping September would roll in with cooler mornings, lower humidity, and maybe a reason to start thinking about gumbo...Not yet.
According to AccuWeather, Southwest Louisiana is looking at another hot and humid weekend with highs around 90 degrees, RealFeel temperatures over 100, and rain chances hanging around all three days. So keep the shorts out. Keep the A/C running. And for goodness sake, don't put that ice chest away yet.

Friday
Friday kicks off the weekend with a high around 91 degrees and about a 69% chance of rain. We'll have partly sunny skies with a couple of showers possible during the afternoon. But here's the number that jumped off the page at me. RealFeel: 107 degrees. ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN. In September. Come on now. That's the kinda weather where you walk outside and immediately start questioning why you left the air conditioning. The UV index is also Very High, so sunscreen is still your friend.
Saturday
Saturday brings a tiny break. Trust me...TINY. The high drops to the upper 80s! Break out the jackets! Mostly cloudy skies, with some possible storms in the morning. Rain chances are around 60% and that RealFeel is gonna be around 102 degrees. If you've got Saturday plans, don't cancel 'em. Just keep an umbrella nearby.
Sunday
Sunday we turning things back up, them highs around 91 degrees and a 66% chance of rain. Mixing those sunshine and clouds. And yep...The RealFeel jumps right back to around 105 degrees. So if Sunday is your lake day, cookout day, or "I'm finally gonna cut the grass" day...I'd get started early. Because by late afternoon, you could be dealing with heat AND thunderstorms.

Friday: Hot, humid, and afternoon showers.
Saturday: A little cooler, but rain is still hanging around.
Sunday: Hot again with thunderstorms possible later in the day.
Bottom line? September might be here... But fall ain't. Not even close. So keep the cooler full of ice, an umbrella in your truck and drink lots of water. Dont break out the hoodies yet...You're just gonna look silly standing outside in 107-degree RealFeel weather.
That's your Cajun Weekend Weather Report. We ain't just telling y'all what the weather's doing. We're helping you survive Southwest Louisiana weather one sweaty weekend at a time. And one of these Wednesdays...I promise...We're finally gonna get to talk about gumbo weather. This just ain't the week.
