The Ultimate Food Holiday Hits SWLA: Taco Tuesday + Cinco de Mayo
KNGT | Louisiana — If you know me, you already know… I love Tacos. I’m talkin real love. Like pull the truck over if I see a taco stand kinda love.
And y’all… tomorrow? Oh man. Tomorrow is one of them days that just feels right. We got Taco Tuesday AND Cinco de Mayo all lined up on the same day. I mean come on now… that ain’t just luck, that’s destiny right there. It’s like the stars lined up just for us to eat good and have a time.
How to Celebrate Cinco De Mayo in Southwest Louisiana
Now around here in Southwest Louisiana, we don’t need much of an excuse to celebrate. But this? This is a full send kinda day. I’m already thinking tacos piled high, chips and queso flowing, maybe a little cold drink on the side. You know how we do.
And it ain’t just about the food, even though let’s be honest… that’s a big part of it.
According to Encyclopaedia Britannica folks all across the United States celebrate Cinco de Mayo with parades, mariachi bands, and dancers dressed up in traditional Mexican outfits. You’ll see colors everywhere… green, white, and red flying proud. Some places even throw down with lucha libre wrestling matches, and if you’ve never seen that… you missing out on a good time.
But let’s be real… the food steals the show. We’re talking guacamole, tacos, churros… all the good stuff. The kind of food that makes you close your eyes on that first bite and just nod your head a little. So here’s what I’m saying…
Grab ya mawmaw. Call pawpaw. Text all them cousins you ain’t seen in a minute. Tell ’em we got a reason to get together. Fire up something, hit your favorite spot, or just make a taco run and sit around the table.
Days like this don’t come around often… and when they do, you gotta show out a little. I know I will be. If you see me tomorrow, there’s about a 99% chance I got tacos in my hand… and I ain’t sharing.
