Miracles do happen. A church pastor who counseled parents post-Columbine has offered a detailed update about the status and prognosis of one of the victims of last week’s Aurora, CO massacre at a midnight screening of ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’ The victim survived due to a brain defect that she didn’t even know she had.

James Holmes, the suspect in the Aurora, Colo. shooting during the midnight screening of ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ which left 12 dead and 58 other injured, appeared in court Monday. So, what happened?

We had planning on starting fresh this week; moving on from the Colorado movie theater tragedy and returning to coverage of movies and television. But one more thing before we proceed. Let’s take a moment to meet the victims and remember all who died far too soon.

A press conference in Aurora, Colo., just wrapped up and revealed more details from today’s movie theater shooting.  Officials have cleared the air on one issue, reporting that a total of 71 people were shot -- 12 died, and 59 were wounded.

The University of Colorado has released a photo of the "Dark Knight Rises" shooter.  James Holmes, 24, was arrested after killing 12 and wounding several dozen others during a midnight showing of the movie.

UPDATES 8:23 a.m.: Police have identified the shooter as James Holmes, 24.  CBS News reports that when police when to Holmes's apartment, it was "booby trapped" with ammunition and chemicals.  The death toll from the attack originally reported 14 deaths, though officials have since revised that number to 12.
