We've all been late for work, it happens. But usually our excuse is "Sorry, I was stuck in traffic", not "I got Vaseline in my eyes".

I've heard some ridiculous sick day excuses before, but these take the cake. Literally, because one woman actually didn't go to work because she ate too much cake.

For some folks, being late for work simply because they couldn't wake up just isn't a good enough excuse. They like to get a little vivid and creative with their explanations. Boy are some of them quite hilarious...
